Denodo was recognized as a Leader in the 2023 Gartner Magic Quadrant™ for Data Integration report, marking the fourth year in a row that Denodo has been recognized as such.
I want to highlight the first of three strategic planning assumptions that Gartner introduces at the start of the report: “Through 2026, manual data integration tasks will be reduced by up to 30% through the adoption of data fabric design patterns that support augmented data integration.”
I think this is telling, because data fabric is a layer above an organization’s data sources, and regardless of the number and kind of repositories in the mix, companies are looking for data integration solutions that work across their different data sources. Data integration should not only be real-time, but it should also be able to integrate all data, while performing all needed transformations on the fly, to support myriad business use cases. This is the promise of a true data fabric.
A Logical Data Integration Solution
Denodo offers a single solution for integrating data, the Denodo Platform, which uses data virtualization to unify all data across an organization, in real time, without replication. In this way, it provides the foundation for a data fabric.
Data virtualization can be implemented as a layer above the applicable data sources, which makes it possible to change or remove data sources without purchasing new tools or engaging in complex modifications. Because data is accessed from the data virtualization layer rather than the underlying data sources, this architecture also enables organizations to perform migrations and modernizations without interruptions to data access.
The Denodo Platform is fairly unique in its emphasis on data virtualization for data integration. Denodo has enhanced the data virtualization capabilities of the Denodo Platform for nearly 25 years, adding support for more data sources, delivery methods, and query optimization strategies.
Data Fabric in Action
LeasePlan, a global leader in cars-as-a-service, needed to better integrate SAP, Salesforce, IBM DB2, Snowflake, and other sources, to improve business decisions, optimize business processes, facilitate the creation of new business models, and more effectively comply with EU regulations. LeasePlan aspired to become a fully digital car-as-a-service company by expanding its service portfolio and encouraging revenue-generating activities through innovative products and services. This required the creation of a global data hub to act as a single source of truth for high-quality data for the whole company, and to support both proactive and reactive data initiatives.
LeasePlan leveraged the Denodo Platform to establish a data fabric above its data sources, accelerating and streamlining data access, to meet its goals. In addition, LeasePlan enhanced customer experiences, with better insights for fleet managers; improved customer convenience, by more effectively predicting when cars would need service; and gained the ability to engage in seamless cloud migrations, with zero downtime for BI reports.
The Important Questions from the Gartner report
When seeking a data integration solution, these are the important questions to ask:
- How many different tools will I need to purchase, to satisfy both my current and my potential future use cases?
- How does the data integration solution handle changes to the data infrastructure, such as modifications or the replacement of individual data sources?
- If real-time integration is possible, is it possible for all data sources, or are there restrictions in terms of data type or format?
Companies should take a serious look at the Denodo Platform when they’re looking for an enterprise data fabric that can smooth away their data integration challenges.
