Reading Time: 2 minutes

Gartner Critical Capabilities documents compare vendors across a set of designated capabilities, and they are meant to be read in conjunction with Gartner Magic Quadrant reports, for an understanding of how the different vendors compare.

In this post, I’d like share a few thoughts about the Gartner Critical Capabilities for Data Integration, 2023 report, the companion document to the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Data Integration, which I covered in a previous post

The five Use Cases that guide the analysis in this report are: Data Engineering, Cloud Data Integration, Operational Data Integration, Master Data Management (MDM), and Data Fabric Design. In this post, I’ll focus on just that last one; though the Denodo Platform has capabilities that support all of these Use Cases, supporting data fabric design is a sweet-spot of ours.

The Data Fabric Factor

This is how Gartner defines data fabric in the Gartner Information Technology Glossary: “A data fabric is an emerging data management design for attaining flexible, reusable, and augmented data integration pipelines, services, and semantics. A data fabric supports both operational and analytics use cases delivered across multiple deployment and orchestration platforms and processes. Data fabrics support a combination of different data integration styles and leverage active metadata, knowledge graphs, semantics, and ML to augment data integration design and delivery.

The Denodo Factor

Denodo, recognized as a Leader in the Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Data Integration Report, received the highest possible score 5.0 in the Data Virtualization category. I feel that the Denodo Platform, built on a strong foundation of data virtualization that has been perfected, refined, and strengthened for almost 25 years, and leveraging a wide variety of delivery options including API services, is almost purpose-built for enabling data fabric. The Denodo Platform centrally manages active metadata to streamline data management tasks, and enables data governance and security policies to be managed from a single point of control across the entire data fabric.

Weave the Fabric

I think that one of the most flexible properties of the Denodo Platform is that it can be easily implemented with existing infrastructure, bringing existing data into the fabric and distributing it across the organization in myriad ways, at the speed of business. If you are interested in implementing a data fabric across your organization, I urge you to take a serious look at the Denodo Platform.
